Love this piece! Thanks for writing about aging and death. It seems as though the constant framing of everything around us as youth is good, age is bad, and death unmentionable is a setup. We hide from and feel uncomfortable with age. Our culture tells us to. Death is not talked about unless we can't avoid it with the death or potential death of someone close. This seems all wrong given, as you point out, death is our only certainty. I'm seventy-eight and think I'm doing everything possible to look young and not die soon. Trying, maybe desperately, to remain relevant.
