We have always used machines as tools to help create. AI is just a tool. It will change how we work just as every other tool that we’ve used has changed our work. There were no art directors or designers prior to mass manufacturing and the resulting mass market. Masses of people took up painting once oil colors were available in convenient tubes. Serial fiction didn’t exist until the printing press and movable type became available.
